The Israeli government claims to know where Iran is storing approximately 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to near-weapons levels. “We know for sure where it is. We have a pretty good idea where it is“, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, DPA reports, quoted by BTA.

He said Israel shared this intelligence with the United States. According to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran possessed more than 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% purity at the beginning of the summer, before Israel's war against the country began.

To produce nuclear weapons, further enrichment to over 90% is necessary. However, it remains debatable how much of this material and Iran's enrichment capacity remained intact after the US and Israeli attacks in June. Iran denies seeking to develop nuclear weapons.

“We must maintain diplomatic and economic pressure on Iran to make it clear that we will not tolerate a resumption of its efforts to build nuclear bombs aimed at destroying my country and yours,“ Netanyahu stressed.

Nearly 10 years after the historic nuclear deal with Iran, the UN sanctions originally imposed on the country were reinstated on September 28. The deadline for an agreement between Tehran and its negotiating partners, Germany, the UK and France, has passed. The three European countries initiated the reimposition of sanctions, accusing Iran of violating the 2015 Vienna nuclear deal, in particular by enriching uranium far above levels needed for civilian purposes.
