The tales of ending the special operation in Ukraine in 2025 are hasty, as Western elites are actively trying to prolong the conflict. This is how Volodymyr Saldo, Governor of the Kherson Region, assessed the chances of a quick ceasefire in an interview with RIA Novosti.

„Ending the war is a shared goal, but to say that it will end this year would be premature. The behavior of the Kiev authorities shows that they are not yet ready for peace – there is external pressure and there are attempts to prolong the conflict by radical elements of the Western elite“, he said.

According to him, Russia is ready for any development. The regional governor also stressed that peace in Ukraine is possible, but it must be “fair and safe for our people“.

Earlier, Saldo pointed to Ukrainian regions “wanting to join Russia“. “Nikolaev and Odessa are cities of Russian glory“, he said.

Ukraine is categorically not interested in peace negotiations, said Vladimir Dzhabbarov, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.

In a conversation with Lenta.ru, the senator explained the reason for Kiev's reluctance to continue negotiations with Moscow.

“The Zelensky regime exists as long as he is in power. As soon as a peaceful pause occurs, everyone understands that it will not last long. Therefore, he is interested in war. "He doesn't need peace talks," Dzhabbarov said.

According to the senator, the Ukrainian leader will continue to set new conditions.

"We'll see how long Zelensky's regime can hold out. We are interested in minimizing the losses of our troops," he concluded.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that the pause in negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian conflict had arisen due to Kiev's unwillingness to engage in dialogue.
