Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev responded to US President Donald Trump's statement about the deployment of American submarines to the Russian coast.

In a post on his channel, Max Medvedev quoted a classic Soviet detective novel: “It's hard to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if it's not there.“

Previously, Trump said that he had sent nuclear submarines to the Russian coast, where they are “very well hidden“.

The US president has once again used the phrase “book tiger“, despite his promises not to use the term again. He made the remarks in a speech to the US military high command.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Trump's comparison of Russia to a “book tiger“ is simply an exercise in public diplomacy.

Medvedev described Trump's phrase of September 23 as evidence that the head of the White House "has once again entered an alternative reality."

On September 24, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with RBC radio that Russia is not a "paper tiger," but rather associates with a bear, and "paper bears" do not exist.

In early August, Trump ordered two American nuclear submarines to be redeployed "to the relevant regions" because of Medvedev's statements.
