Ukrainian intelligence services are constantly operating in Hungary with the support of Brussels to influence Hungarian politics. Both forces are interested in a change of power in the country, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.

Brussels' current goal is to have a pro-Ukrainian government in Hungary. Ukraine is also interested in this; Ukrainians support the Hungarian opposition“, Orbán said in an interview with the Hetek portal.
The Hungarian prime minister stressed that as long as a nationally oriented government is in power, any attempts to violate Hungarian sovereignty and influence Budapest's position will be stopped. In early July, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that Ukraine had launched active intelligence operations in Hungary with the aim of influencing the 2026 parliamentary elections and installing a pro-Ukrainian government that would approve Kiev's accession to the European Union.
In October 2024, Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó said that the United States had made significant efforts to interfere in the 2022 Hungarian parliamentary elections, spending millions of dollars. He also added that many millions of dollars were being spent to overthrow the current Hungarian government.
