Eight people have been injured in an explosion on a "tourist boat" in the resort of Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol, reports the Mirror, quoted by FOCUS.
Three of the injured suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital. The incident occurred while the motorboat, described by locals as a tourist boat, was leaving the port in Fuengirola.
It is not yet known what the nationality of the tourists is. Footage from the scene showed firefighters at the port using hoses to extinguish the flames from the shore, while locals on scooters and smaller boats rushed to the aid of passengers and tried to put out the flames.
The alarm was raised at around 12:20pm local time on Saturday (11:20am BST) after several witnesses called emergency services after seeing a black column of smoke rising into the air, clearly visible from nearby beaches. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, the Mirror reports.
