An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was recorded in Kamchatka, the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported. The earthquake occurred 213 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The epicenter was at a depth of 47.4 km.

Ash from the slopes of the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka rose to a height of up to 3 km, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka Territory.

„Re-elevated ash from the slopes of the Shiveluch volcano has been recorded in Kamchatka. The ash cloud reached a height of up to 3,000 meters, and the peak itself is 3,283 meters high. The ash cloud is spreading in an east-southeast direction towards the Pacific Ocean,“ the report said.

Shiveluch is an active volcano in Kamchatka, consisting of the Old Shiveluch volcano, an ancient caldera, and the active Young Shiveluch volcano, which is 60,000-70,000 years old. It is located approximately 50 km from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district and 450 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
