The European Union is preparing a new strategy for artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce technological dependence on the US and China. The bloc wants to promote its own AI platforms to ensure security and sustainability, the Financial Times reports, citing a draft document it has seen.

According to the newspaper, the strategy highlights the need to expand the use of AI in sectors such as healthcare, defense and manufacturing. The publication, citing the document, also notes that the European Commission intends to strengthen the EU's sovereignty in the field of AI by accelerating the development and use of domestic AI technologies.
According to the Financial Times, the strategy will be published on October 7.
