Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey is taking its first steps towards the use of a common alphabet for Turkic-speaking countries, BTA reported.

His statement came during a meeting of the Organization of Turkic States, which is being held in Azerbaijan and was broadcast live on his social media profile. Erdogan announced that the first step in this direction was taken with the printing of this alphabet of a work dedicated to the Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aimatov.

Such steps to unify spelling and use a common alphabet aim to bring peoples closer culturally and economically. Among the main topics in the Turkish president's speech were energy security, investments in technology, artificial intelligence, and transport links. In this context, Erdogan stated that Turkey supports all efforts to ensure stability and peace in the region.

As usual, the Turkish president condemned Israel's actions and expressed support for the territorial integrity of Syria. He also welcomed the peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the agreement between Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan regarding the point where their borders meet.

Erdogan stressed that the corridor in the Caspian region should lead to even better economic results.

In addition, the Turkish president expressed his satisfaction with the presence of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the President of the Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, at the forum.
