Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said the extremist group "Hamas" must be destroyed after the return of hostages from Gaza, Reuters and Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
He added that he would not vote in favor of a ceasefire agreement with "Hamas" aimed at ending the war in Gaza, but refrained from threats to topple Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition government.
"There is a huge fear of the consequences of emptying prisons and releasing the next generation of terrorist leaders," the far-right minister wrote in "Ex". "For this reason alone, we cannot participate in short-term celebrations or vote in favor of this agreement."
The Israeli army said it was preparing to redeploy its troops stationed in the Gaza Strip after Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire agreement aimed at freeing the hostages, AFP reported.
"The army has begun operational preparations ahead of the implementation of the agreement. As part of this process, the deployment lines (in the Gaza Strip) will be adjusted quickly," the statement said.
Israeli forces control 75 percent of the Palestinian territory, and a Hamas official said the release of the hostages would be carried out "simultaneously with the concrete Israeli withdrawal" from sectors of the Gaza Strip. US President Donald Trump's plan, approved last night by Israel and Hamas, envisages the Israeli army withdrawing to previously agreed positions, but without completely leaving the Palestinian enclave.
