Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that if Russian leader Vladimir Putin tries to take over all of Eastern Ukraine, his army's losses will reach one million soldiers, Ukrinform reported, BTA reported.
Recalling his conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump, Zelensky said: "What I told him came true - the Russians will not take over the eastern part, and if they want to do it, Putin will have to bury a million of his people. Since we know how much he has already buried in the capture of 30% of our east since the start of the full-scale invasion, we can predict what he will have to do to try to capture the entire Donbas or other parts of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president also noted that Trump has lost confidence in Putin's words.
"Putin lied to Trump. A person who truly wants and is ready for peace cannot continue to intensify the blows. This is (giving) an ultimatum through massive blows. But ultimatums do not work. We want a just peace – and this means there must be an honest dialogue. We are ready for a dialogue in the form that President Trump announced. And we are ready for a corresponding meeting," Zelensky added.
The Ukrainian president added that he would nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if he manages to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine.
For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by TASS, that Ukraine is counting on positive developments on the front line, but the real situation looks different.
