Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said today that at the moment there are no grounds for resuming the work of the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP) in southern Ukraine, "Reuters" reported, BTA reports.
According to him, restarting the plant cannot even be discussed until an external source of power supply is provided.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP is currently operating with backup generators after the main power line was cut during fighting.
Meanwhile, the Russian state nuclear corporation „Rosatom“ announced earlier today that it is preparing for a possible restart of the plant, despite the difficult situation in the area.
