Nineteen people are missing after an explosion at an explosives plant in the southern United States, local authorities reported, quoted by the agencies and BTA.
"As of this time, we can confirm that we are looking for 19 people," Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis told reporters.
The explosion destroyed the "Accurate Energy Systems" plant yesterday, located about 80 km from Nashville, the capital of Tennessee.
Secondary explosions forced rescuers to stay away from the burning debris, the Associated Press reported.
Local residents said that heard and felt the explosion miles from the Accurate Energy Systems plant. The company said on its website that it manufactures and tests explosives at an eight-building facility in the wooded hills near the town of Bucksnorth, about 60 miles from Nashville.
The cause of the explosion is not yet clear, and Davis said the investigation could take several days.
Aerial footage showed the explosion destroying one of the buildings at the facility, leaving only smoldering debris and burned-out remains of cars.
