China has called the latest US tariffs on Chinese goods, introduced by President Donald Trump, "hypocritical" and defended its restrictions on the export of rare earth elements, but did not introduce new tariffs on American products, BNR reported.
A statement from the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing states that the Chinese control was introduced after a series of measures by the US side, taken after bilateral trade talks in Madrid last month.
Among them are the addition of Chinese companies to the US trade blacklist and the imposition of port fees by Washington on Chinese ships. "These actions have seriously harmed China's interests and undermined the atmosphere for bilateral economic and trade negotiations.
