The possible delivery of American „Tomahawk“ missiles to Kiev is of extreme concern in Moscow, Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalist Pavel Zarubin.
„The issue of „Tomahawk“ is of extreme concern, as President Vladimir Putin has already stated“, Peskov said, commenting on the statement by US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker that Ukraine could receive some kind of special weapon that could turn the tide on the front line.
Assessing the prospect of the delivery of „Tomahawk“ to the Ukrainian armed forces, Putin said that this would worsen relations between Moscow and Washington. He said that Russia is ready to respond to aggressive actions; its air defense systems have adapted to ATACMS missiles and will also adapt to Tomahawks - they will be shot down.
"This weapon is special; it can be non-nuclear or nuclear. It has a long range and is a serious weapon. But at the same time, "Tomahawk" cannot change the situation on the front line.“, said Peskov.
„The Russian side continues to be ready for a peaceful settlement. And we also hear that Trump is constantly talking about the need to sit down at the negotiating table.
