We must convince (Russian President Vladimir) Putin that he can never win the war in Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said today in a joint statement with Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmygal, BTA reported.
There is still work to be done in this regard, Rutte added and noted that at today's meeting of the defense ministers of the pact countries in Brussels, the possibility of the allies increasing support for Kiev was discussed, so that Ukraine would be as strong as possible. According to him, the allies and their partners must continue to supply the Ukrainian side with weapons for inflicting damage and air defense (ADF) means.
He announced that as of today, half of the NATO countries have expressed their readiness to contribute to the purchase of weapons from the United States and their provision to the Kiev forces.
The main quantities of equipment related to European air defense are provided by the United States, Minister Shmygal noted. EU countries pay for the supply of air defense means to Ukraine and help us survive the upcoming severe winter. We understand that Putin will continue his terror, he summarized. The minister indicated that the future of the proposal to build a European wall against drones and the possible supply of long-range missiles to Ukrainian forces was discussed today.
