Zelensky: Russia launches massive drone and missile strikes on Ukraine - 1

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that last night the Russian army carried out large-scale attacks on the country's civilian and energy infrastructure. According to him, over 300 strike drones and 37 missiles were used, including a significant number of ballistic missiles attacking several areas simultaneously, the BBC reports, News.bg reports.

“The Vinnytsia, Sumy and Poltava regions were under attack, as well as the city of Nezhin in Chernihiv region, where a residential building and a post office were damaged. There was also damage to critical infrastructure in Kharkiv region“, Zelensky wrote on social networks.

He accused Russia of applying the so-called “dual terror tactics“, retaliating against targets already attacked to hit rescue teams and energy workers trying to repair the damage. "The Russians are using Shahed drones with cluster munitions and are carrying out secondary strikes to injure firefighters and energy workers. This is pure terror," the Ukrainian president said.

Zelensky again called on Western allies to step up sanctions pressure on Moscow and said he would raise the issue during his upcoming visit to Washington.

Local authorities confirmed that Chernihiv had also been targeted by an airstrike early this morning. The head of the regional administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, said one of the drones had hit an industrial plant, causing a fire, and debris from another drone had fallen in a residential area of the city. Chaus also confirmed a secondary strike on Nezhin, where a drone had been shot down the previous day. hit an apartment building.

In Poltava region, Russian forces have launched a combined missile strike on energy and oil and gas infrastructure, regional governor Vladimir Kogut said. As a result of the strikes and the subsequent fires, 6,450 households in six settlements are left without gas supply. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties.
