US President Donald Trump told reporters that Russian and Ukrainian forces should cease hostilities and remain at the current line of contact.
„We think they should just stop at the line of contact“, said the American leader aboard his plane during his return to Washington from Florida.
„There are lines of contact right now. It's very difficult to reach an agreement on anything else.“
„There are so many different variables. That's why I'm saying they should just stop right now at the line of contact“, added Trump. He assured that he did not discuss issues related to the transfer of control of Donbas to Russia during his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky on October 17.
Regarding the countries' control of Donbas, Trump said: “Let them divide it as it is now. I think 78% of the territory is already occupied by Russia. Let it remain as it is. They can agree on something later.“
Trump previously said in an interview with Fox News that ending the conflict in Ukraine would mean a loss of territory for Kiev.
