Russian President Vladimir Putin's position on the peaceful settlement of the crisis in Ukraine is "consistent and well-known", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Regarding the upcoming meeting between Putin and United States President Donald Trump in the Hungarian capital, he stressed that the good relations of the two leaders with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán contributed to the choice of Budapest as the venue for the US-Russia summit.
"Preparations for the summit have not yet fully begun. Of course, everyone is carrying out the instructions given by the presidents. But the full-scale negotiations, the team work to prepare the appropriate conditions for the summit, have not yet begun," Peskov explained.
He also added that Moscow would continue to negotiate with Washington to ensure a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
"We are continuing our discussions with the Americans on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict; serious work is underway," Peskov summed up.
