Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a Russian airstrike in the Ukrainian capital tonight, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.
Residential buildings were damaged. There are no reports of casualties so far.
The attack was carried out with ballistic missiles, Klitschko said, quoted by Reuters.
The main target of the attack is not clear.
Klitschko also reported, quoted by Reuters, about broken windows and burning cars.
Teams of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service have been sent to several places in the Ukrainian capital.
Meanwhile, an alert has been declared in several Russian regions - Voronezh, Tula and Samara regions, the republics of Mordovia, Chuvashia and Tatarstan, as well as the Stavropol Territory - due to the danger of drones, local authorities reported, quoted by TASS.
The airports of the cities of Kaluga, Penza and Pskov have been temporarily closed.
Russia and Ukraine are attacked with drones practically every night.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) said they had struck a key chemical plant in the Bryansk region of southern Russia, Reuters reported.
A statement from the General Staff of the AFU said the plant in the border region of Russia was hit in a combined missile and air strike attack that broke through Russian air defenses.
The Ukrainian military described the plant as a "key facility" for the production of gunpowder, explosives and rocket fuel and said it was currently assessing the damage caused in the operation.
The text states - unusually for such statements - that Franco-British "Storm Shadow" cruise missiles were used in the strike. (Storm Shadow), which Kiev claims have successfully penetrated Russian air defenses.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced, as quoted by TASS, that in just 4 hours between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. yesterday (Bulgarian time), the country's air defenses shot down 57 drones over the Bryansk region and one over the neighboring Kursk region.
Two civilians were injured in a drone attack on a car near the village of Vishnevi in the Klimovsky district, Bryansk region governor Alexander Bogomaz said. He specified that the injured were taken to hospital, where they were provided with the necessary medical assistance.
