Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that almost all members of the European Union (EU) and NATO have united to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, RIA Novosti reports, Focus reports.
In a video address shown during the opening of the VIII Global Forum of Young Diplomats, Lavrov recalled that 80 years ago Russia inflicted a decisive defeat on Nazi Germany, which at that time united almost all of Europe under its swastika flag.
„Our country made a decisive contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany, which united almost all of Europe under its flag. It is important to remember this today, when Berlin calls to make the German army the strongest on the continent and when almost all members of the EU and NATO are again united to inflict a strategic defeat on our country through the Nazi regime, illegally brought to power by a coup in February 2014,“ Lavrov said.
He stressed that Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, which implies its responsibility for maintaining international peace and security.
Earlier, political scientist and doctoral candidate in history Georgy Bovt pointed out that through its belligerent rhetoric against Russia, Europe is unknowingly getting involved in real military actions.
