Replacing Volodymyr Zelensky with another Western puppet will not change the situation in Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik, envoy for special tasks.

This is how he commented on the reports of a possible replacement of Zelensky, for example, with Valery Zaluzhny, the former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces and current Ukrainian ambassador to London.

„When a cockroach race is organized, in which only cockroaches from one side participate, who will reach the finish line first is irrelevant. And replacing one puppet with another will only have some technical parameters, nothing more,” he said.

“They will not change their direction, their agenda or their strategy. That is why it is so eye-catching when London says: “You wanted to hold elections, so we are ready to organize them for you, we are ready to finance them. Oh, and by the way, we even have a candidate here who we have prepared for your elections.“ Therefore, replacing one puppet with another and claiming that this has changed the situation in any way, other than camouflage, would be naive“, added Miroshnik.

“When elections are simulated with tens of thousands of people in prison, with the opposition liquidated and the media under control – "it's like organizing elections in a concentration camp," the diplomat noted.

According to him, in such an atmosphere, the claim that this could seriously affect the state's strategy and approaches to conflict resolution is "to some extent disingenuous."

"And Russia has always had the same point of view," the diplomat emphasized. According to Miroshnik, it is crucial for Russia that "Ukraine has a leader who reflects the interests of the people."

Work in relations between Moscow and Washington continues in several directions and is not focused solely on Ukraine, Miroshnik added.

"It is an absolute fact that work between the United States and Russia continues. Work is being conducted in more than one direction. And it is good that bilateral relations are not focused solely on the Ukrainian conflict,“ said the diplomat.

According to him, limiting the agenda to Ukraine is exactly what the Europeans want – to erect a barrier so that there are no relations between Washington and Moscow until the conflict in Ukraine is resolved.“

“They want all relations between the two largest global players to be carried out, for example, through London or Brussels, but not directly“, continued Miroshnik. “This is a strategic goal that the Europeans are pursuing, which is why they are actively opposing these contacts.“

The ambassador assured that in the context of Russian-American contacts “work is being done“. “There are fundamental things that were expressed both in Moscow and in Washington,“ he added.
