Trump: I will discuss the war in Ukraine with Xi Jinping, I want him to help me with the Russians - 1

US President Donald Trump announced that he intends to discuss issues related to Moscow and Kiev at his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea on October 30, and also hopes for Beijing's assistance in resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

“One of the topics that we will discuss is Russia and Ukraine“, the US president emphasized, speaking about the meeting. “I would like China to help us with Russia. We have imposed very extensive sanctions on Russia“, the American leader told reporters on board his plane. "These are very strict sanctions, very effective, but I would like China to help us," he added, referring to helping resolve the conflict.

Tariff and trade wars only undermine global economic growth and destabilize global industrial supply chains, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng warned.

"Relying on protectionism and unilateral actions, tariff and trade wars will only destabilize global industrial supply chains and seriously harm global economic growth," he said at an event held at the embassy after the Fourth Plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

"In this chaotic world, we have countless reasons to strive for the proper development of China-U.S. relations," Xie Feng said. He added that Beijing hopes Washington will act in accordance with the understandings reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, in the spirit of the principles of "mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation".

“When economic globalization faces headwinds and reliance on unilateralism and protectionism, China continues to support economic globalization, advancing reforms through greater openness, upholding multilateralism, and sharing opportunities and common development with the rest of the world“, the ambassador assured. “The world is currently undergoing great changes. Only through solidarity and win-win cooperation can we navigate these turbulent waters together,“ added Xie Feng.

As the White House announced on October 23, another personal meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump may be held next week. The leaders are expected to hold talks on October 30 in the Republic of Korea on the sidelines of the APEC summit. Trump said he expects to achieve a “fair” agreement on future bilateral trade terms at this meeting.

Cross-border logistics cooperation between Russia and China has broad prospects, said Wang Yuping, deputy director of the Department of Commerce of northeast China's Liaoning Province, during the 3rd Russia-China Forum on Investment Development and Trade Cooperation in Shenyang.

“Cross-border logistics cooperation between China and Russia has huge potential and broad prospects”, Wang Yuping said.

According to her, Liaoning Province and Russian regions have significant potential for complementarity in many fields, including energy, forestry, mining and fisheries.

“We are confident that through the continued development of exchanges and deepening of cooperation between Liaoning Province and Russian regions, it will reach new heights”, she added.

Wang Yuping noted that the province Liaoning is an important hub in Northeast Asia and a link in the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor. "It is one of the provinces with the most convenient transportation links between China and Russia," she said. She added that Liaoning Province attaches great importance to cooperation with Russia and the two countries maintain close contacts.

The third Russia-China Forum on Investment, Development and Trade Cooperation is being held in Shenyang on October 24-25. Representatives of Russian regional governments, Russian entrepreneurs and Chinese government officials are participating.
