A man has been shot at a library in the center of the capital of the American city of Texas - Austin, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA, citing a police statement.
Emergency teams arrived at the scene. A suspect was later detained in another part of the city.
The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital. Doctors said she was in serious but stable condition, the Austin Police Department said.
A 911 call was made shortly after noon about a shooting at the Austin Central Library, Deputy Police Chief Lee Rogers said at a news briefing.
A suspect left the scene before officers arrived but was located and taken into custody in a south Austin neighborhood around 1:25 p.m. local time (9:25 p.m. Eastern time), police said. Rogers said he had no further information about the suspect or where in the library the shooting occurred.
“This appears to be an isolated incident,“ the deputy police chief was quoted as saying by the AP.
