The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia signed a declaration to resolve the conflict on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur.

The ceremony was attended by US President Donald Trump, who traveled specifically for the meeting, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who brokered the ceasefire in July.

The signing was postponed earlier at the request of Thai Prime Minister Anuthin Chanwirakun due to the death of Queen Sirikit.

The border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia began in May and escalated into intense clashes with heavy weapons, artillery and air strikes from July 24 to 29. It ended with a ceasefire brokered by the US, China and Malaysia, which holds the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.
