The authorities in Russia have declared a state of emergency after two attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the dam wall of the Belgorod Reservoir in Russia.

This was reported today by the Federal Agency for Water Resources, reports the Moscow Times.

According to the agency, the strikes damaged the lower water outlet and two valves responsible for regulating the water level. This led to a drop in the water level by one meter.

Footage of the consequences of the strikes by the Ukrainian armed forces on the dam wall was published by the OSINT resource Dnipro Osint and the monitoring channel Exilenova+. Satellite images show water leaking from the damaged part of the dam wall and the beginning of flooding near the attacked structure.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched their first strike against the "Belgorod“ dam, which has a capacity of 76 million cubic meters, on the evening of October 24, probably using drones or GMLRS missiles from a HIMARS launcher.

As reported by "Ashes Belgorod“, as a result of Ukrainian attacks and the breach of the dam wall located on the Seversky Donets River between the Belgorod and Shebekinsky districts, flooding has begun in villages downstream. Earlier, the regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced the evacuation of residents of villages threatened by flooding - according to him, this number is approximately 1,000 people.
