US President Donald Trump will meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in South Korea today, DPA reported.

The two leaders will meet at around 11:00 local time in the city of Busan, the White House announced.

This will be their first meeting since 2019. They spoke in Osaka, Japan, at the G20 leaders' meeting.

Xi Jinping and the US president have already arrived in Busan.

They will talk on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders' meeting.

They are expected to discuss US tariffs on Chinese imports and China's export restrictions on rare earths.

Trump is also expected to ask China to commit to fighting fentanyl, which has caused a large number of deaths in the US.

Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social" that he was looking forward to meeting with Xi Jinping.

The American leader's post also said that "our military alliance is stronger than ever, which is why I have given them permission to build a nuclear submarine".

Trump specified that South Korea will build its new submarine in the American city of Philadelphia.

"Shipbuilding in our country will make a great comeback," Trump wrote in this regard.
