US President Donald Trump assured that he is not even considering running again in the US presidential elections and refused to specify who he sees as his likely successor.

“Well, I'm not even thinking about it. But I'll tell you, a lot of people want me to run again“, the Republican said, answering a question about whether he plans to try for a third term as president, despite the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

“The difference between us and the Democrats, however, is that we have strong candidates on our bench. I don't want to name names because it's inappropriate. "It's too early," Trump said in an interview with CBS News.

"I really like J.D. Vance. I like Marco Rubio. I like a lot of people. We have some incredible candidates," Trump added when asked who he sees as his possible successor.

The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution limits presidents to two terms. It was adopted in 1951. However, Trump has repeatedly raised the possibility of running for a third term. Former key political strategist Steve Bannon recently mentioned such a prospect.

Trump won his second term in the November 2024 election, defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Trump first served as U.S. prime minister from 2017 to 2021. He lost the 2016 election to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
