Sudan Massacre: Hundreds Shot in Maternity Hospital - 1

More than 460 patients and their companions were shot in a maternity hospital in the city of El Fasher, Sudan, Aleteia.org reported.

In late October 2025, the city of El Fasher in the western part of the country became the epicenter of a catastrophe - both humanitarian and moral. It is estimated that in recent days more than 36,000 people have fled on foot to the nearby city of Tawil, which already shelters more than 650,000 internally displaced persons.

Particularly devastating, according to the World Health Organization, was the massacre in a maternity hospital. According to reports, more than 460 patients and their companions were shot when the city fell. Six health workers have been abducted.

International agencies have gathered horrific reports of mass killings, sexual violence, abductions and targeted looting since the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces took over the city after more than 500 days of siege.

The UN human rights office confirmed “horrifying accounts of summary executions, mass killings, rape, attacks on aid workers, looting, abductions and forced displacement“.

The country is facing an extremely serious humanitarian catastrophe, combining war, famine and disease.

Prosecutors from the International Criminal Court have announced that they are gathering evidence of alleged mass killings and rapes in El Fasher, which took place after the paramilitary forces took over the city. The fate of nearly 200,000 people believed to still be stranded in the city remains unknown.
