The military wing of the radical Palestinian group „Hamas“ announced that today at 14:00 local time (coinciding with Bulgarian time) it will hand over the body of Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin, killed in 2014, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
According to information from the „Izzedine al-Qassam“ Brigades, the remains were located in a tunnel under the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. Goldin, an officer in the Israeli army, was killed during an ambush carried out by Palestinian militants during the war between Israel and „Hamas“ in 2014.
Under a ceasefire agreement reached last month, “Hamas“ released 20 live Israeli hostages held in Gaza in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The deal also includes handing over the bodies of 28 killed hostages in exchange for the remains of 360 Palestinian fighters.
So far, the group has returned the bodies of 23 hostages to Israel and received the remains of 3,000 Palestinians, Reuters notes.
