A Palestinian state will not be created, the Gaza Strip will be demilitarized, and the radical Hamas movement will be disarmed. This was stated by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

“Israel's policy is clear: a Palestinian state will not be established“, he wrote in X. “The Gaza Strip will be demilitarized down to the last tunnel, and Hamas will be disarmed by international forces or the Israel Defense Forces“, he added.

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10.

Israel Defense Forces units will remain in the buffer zone on the border with Syria and on the Syrian side of Mount Hermon. This was announced by Defense Minister Israel Katz.

“Our army will remain on Mount Hermon and in the security buffer zone in southern Syria“, he wrote in X.

In December 2024, the Israeli army deployed its forces in the buffer zone in southern Syria near the border after the change of power in the Arab Republic. At the same time, Israeli troops established control over the Syrian side of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights without encountering resistance.

The Golan Heights, which had belonged to Syria since 1944, were captured by Israel during the Six-Day War in 1967. In 1981, the Knesset (Israeli parliament) unilaterally passed a law declaring the Jewish state's sovereignty over this territory. UN Security Council Resolution 497 of 17 December 1981 declared the annexation invalid.
