China's Ministry of Defense said it had sent a formal protest note to the United States over the approved arms sale to Taiwan. In its statement, Beijing stressed that it would take "all necessary measures" to safeguard the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People's Republic of China, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
“We urge the US side to immediately stop this unacceptable practice of arming Taiwan and not harm the development of relations between the two countries and their militaries“, the Chinese ministry said.
Last week, Washington approved the sale of fighter jets and aircraft parts to Taiwan worth $330 million. This is the first such deal since President Donald Trump took office in January.
