Italy sends new military aid package to Ukraine

The Supreme Defense Council of Italy confirmed full support for Ukraine and to give way to the 12th decree for military aid, BNR reported.

The meeting at the presidential palace "Quirinal" was attended by Head of State Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Ministers Tajani, Crosetto, Piantedozi, Giorgetti and Urso and the Chief of Defense - General Luciano Portolano.

The media point out that the decision is the result of a discussion of the war against Ukraine and the threat of Russian drones on European soil. The communiqué specifies that "the twelfth decree for military aid" was approved" of Ukraine.

The rearmament policy has also been confirmed due to the transformation of military actions with drones by Russia into violating the airspace of NATO and European Union countries.

The decision of the Supreme Defense Council is considered politically significant, after the upheavals in the majority, as Matteo Salvini opposed new aid to Ukraine.
