Ukraine will not agree to the US plan for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis unless significant changes are made to it, the Financial Times reports.

According to the publication, the plan includes Kiev giving up certain territories and weapons.

Ukrainian officials who have reviewed the details of the US proposals have expressed criticism.

According to sources, the plan meets the “maximalist“ demands of Russia and Ukraine will not agree to it without significant changes.

One of the sources of the publication said that the United States is putting pressure on Moscow to “formulate clearly its realistic expectations“ in order to start negotiations.

Financial Times and Reuters presented details of the new plan, which according to Axios the United States is developing in consultation with Moscow. It calls for significant concessions from Ukraine. Specifically, Kiev is required to cede Donbas, including the territories under its control, to halve the size of its armed forces and give up key weapons. The plan also includes recognizing Russian as an official language in Ukraine.

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin was aware of these publications, but there was officially “nothing new beyond the spirit of Anchorage“. According to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the ministry has not received any information from the US about agreements on Ukraine through official channels.

Amid the publications, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev would cooperate with Washington to achieve peace. "And only President Trump and the United States of America have the power to finally end the war," he added. Axios also reported that due to Zelensky's lack of interest in discussing the US plan, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff postponed a meeting with the Ukrainian leader in Turkey.
