Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented to journalists on board the plane he returned from South Africa after the G-20 summit over the weekend, US President Donald Trump's proposal for peace in Ukraine, reported “Türkiye Today“, BTA reports.
“The plan can work if it meets the legitimate expectations and security needs of both countries, without creating new instability“, Erdogan said. He added that if a basis is created that satisfies all parties, it will open the way for a lasting solution.
The President stressed Turkey's readiness to play a mediating role, as it did during the Istanbul talks. Erdogan also called on the international community to be more determined in preventing further escalation in the conflict zones and in addressing the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. He recalled that Turkey continues to insist on the full implementation of the ceasefire and unhindered access to humanitarian aid.
