The head of the US ground forces Daniel Driscoll told the Kiev authorities that Ukraine's defeat in the conflict with Russia is inevitable, NBC News reported on Tuesday, citing its sources.
According to them, during a visit to Kiev last week, Driscoll described Ukraine's situation on the battlefield as extremely difficult and warned that its armed forces would suffer an inevitable defeat. He said that Ukraine's situation would only worsen over time, and therefore it would be more profitable for Kiev to start peace talks now than to find itself in a worse situation later.
In addition, the American delegation declared that the American military-industrial complex cannot continue to provide Ukraine with the weapons and air defense systems it needs, NBC News sources reported.
Earlier, the same media outlet reported that Driscoll had held meetings with Russian representatives in Abu Dhabi. Later, the Pentagon confirmed this information, specifying that consultations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine took place on Monday evening and Tuesday.
