US President Donald Trump believes that the Ukrainian authorities have misused some of the funds provided by US taxpayers to assist Kiev. This was stated by White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt during a regular briefing with journalists, Vesti.bg reports.

According to her, Trump has emphasized that corruption is unacceptable and that he does not want American citizens' money to be used illegally. It is for this reason that the current administration has put an end to the practice of uncontrolled financing introduced by the previous administration to support the war.
Leavitt also explained that the United States is currently selling weapons to NATO countries, which are subsequently sent to Ukraine. According to her, this is a fundamentally different model compared to direct funding through “blank checks“ signed by Americans for a conflict in a distant country.
She emphasized that this policy does not weaken Washington's commitment to working to end the war, but on the contrary - shows President Trump's determination to always put the interests of the American people and taxpayers first.
