The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Georgia's demand that Moscow abandon recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in order to restore diplomatic relations is wrong and unrealistic.
“Tbilisi adheres to the position advocated during the regime of former President Mikhail Saakashvili, that the resumption of diplomatic relations is tied to Russia's rejection of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This demand is harmful to Georgia itself and is unrealistic. Moscow emphasized that decisions to recognize the republics' statehood are irreversible“, the ministry told “Izvestia“.
