Greek farmers block the Kulata - Promachon border crossing

Today, protesting Greek farmers are expected to block the Kulata - Promachon border crossing with Bulgaria. They are ready for blockades on the Thessaloniki - Athens highway as well.

Farmers from Serres are threatening to close the road to Promachon with tractors today from noon.

If the police set up a cordon and stop the agricultural machinery, the intentions are for a human chain, and it is not specified whether the blockade will be only symbolic or will last a long time.

The Greek farmers are insisting above all on the payment of the full amount of aid and compensation, and are also demanding measures to increase the purchase price of products.

It is expected that traffic between Komotini and Xanthi will be interrupted again for several hours today. After almost two days of traffic being stopped at the border crossing with North Macedonia at 'Evzoni", the tractors have withdrawn.

There are preparations for blockades at three places on the Thessaloniki - Athens highway, as well as on the Thessaloniki - Halkidiki road. There are also blocked roads on the islands.

Government spokesman Marinakis said that the obligations to farmers would be covered by the end of the year.

The protesters responded with threats to block ports as well, stating that they did not believe in promises.
