US President Donald Trump said that the war between Russia and Ukraine will eventually end. The comment was made during the Christmas tree lighting ceremony near the White House, UNIAN reports, Focus reports.
Trump stressed that tens of thousands of soldiers are losing their lives because of the conflict and expressed the need for the war to be ended. “We have to stop this. We are working very hard on this issue“, he said.
The president added that the US is striving to establish peace in the world through diplomatic efforts that “nobody has seen before“. According to him, an alternative option for settling the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is being sought, and he is confident that a solution will eventually be reached.
We remind you that the US presented a “peace plan“ to end the war in Ukraine, which initially contained 28 points, but was shortened after negotiations with the Ukrainian side. US special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner presented the plan to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The results of the meeting were not officially announced, but media reports indicate that no breakthrough was achieved.
At the same time, it became clear that the meeting between the American and Ukrainian delegations in the US has ended, and the results of the negotiations between Witkoff and Kushner with Putin were discussed.
