Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with the special envoy of the US President Stephen Witkoff and with the son-in-law of the US President Donald Trump, entrepreneur Jared Kushner. He announced this on his Telegram channel.
„Just now, together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Ignatov and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, we had a long and informative phone conversation with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. „I am grateful for the very meaningful and constructive conversation“, Zelensky wrote, without providing details.
According to him, „we agreed on the next steps and formats for the conversation with America“. “I expect Rustem Umerov and General Ignatov to give a detailed report.“ “We cannot discuss everything over the phone, so we need to work in detail with our teams on ideas and proposals“, Zelensky concluded.
Umerov and Ignatov are currently in the United States. Bloomberg reported earlier that talks between U.S. and Ukrainian representatives held in Florida on December 4 and 5 did not lead to a significant breakthrough in the peace process. The talks were expected to continue on December 6.
