Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the Strategy for the Development of Healthcare in the Russian Federation until 2030. The corresponding decree was signed on December 8.
The new strategy replaces a similar document adopted in 2019 for the period until 2025. The government is tasked with approving an action plan for implementing the new strategy within six months. The document is divided into 24 points in seven sections devoted to assessing the state of national security in the field of public health protection, threats and challenges in this area, goals and priority areas for healthcare development, as well as the main mechanisms, stages and expected results of the implementation of the strategy.
Thus, the planned results by 2030 include: increasing the share of citizens leading a healthy lifestyle to 13.6%; reducing alcohol consumption to 7.8 liters of ethanol per capita; increasing the share of medicines produced in Russia in the total volume of vital and essential medicines to 90%; achieving a level of technological independence in healthcare of 80%; and providing free medical facilities with doctors to 43.46 people per 10,000 people.
