The blockades on Greek roads continue - 1

The negotiations between Greek farmers and Agriculture Minister Costas Tsiaras ended without success. For this reason, the blockades on the roads in our southern neighbor will continue.

At the meeting between the farmers from Crete and the agriculture minister, no agreement was reached on any of the protesters' demands. "We will continue until we reach a solution to the problems", the farmers said.

The number of people from different sectors who are joining the farmers on the blockades is constantly increasing. Some of them are students, construction workers, pensioners, teachers and even the owners of butcher shops, who are closing for a day next week to participate in the protest.

For their part, farmers in many places on the blockades are handing out their produce to drivers waiting to pass. The whole of Greece seems to support the protest, opposition MPs who met with the farmers said.

There are now tractors on all the main roads in Greece. The blockades are increasing, as are the participants in them.

On Friday, tractors and pedestrians will block the port of Thessaloniki for a day. On the Thessaloniki-Athens road, tractor traffic is available at five key junctions. The blockades are every two hours.

From Alexandroupolis to Thessaloniki, the number of tractors has increased significantly in just one day.

Border blockades are also continuing.

A meeting is being prepared next week between the leaders of the protest and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
