Ukraine may have lost about 10,000 foreign mercenaries in the fighting zone since the beginning of the war, said former officer of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasily Prozorov.
„It is also difficult to say how many of those killed are in Ukraine, because, firstly, this is classified information and they have many different units. There is not just one foreign legion in Ukraine. There is a foreign legion of the Ukrainian military intelligence, a foreign legion of the ground forces, and they are dispersed across different units, different mechanized brigades and some airborne units. "There are a lot of them, but I think the total number is estimated at around 10,000," he said.
Earlier, Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov, deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces and commander of the "Akhmat" special forces unit of the Russian Defense Ministry, told TASS that a significant number of professional foreign mercenaries from the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already been killed or left the combat zone, and the quality of training of the remaining fighters in Ukraine has noticeably declined. According to Alaudinov, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has concentrated foreign mercenaries in the Krasnoarmeysk and Kupyansk regions in an attempt to stop the advance of Russian forces.
