Benjamin Erickson, the man arrested for the shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, previously served in the US Army and underwent sniper training, CNN reports, citing its sources.
According to the news, the 24-year-old Erickson served in the US Army from 2021 to 2024 and underwent sniper training during that time.
He served at Arlington Cemetery near Washington, D.C., where he provided security for events involving the US President, and received a medal for distinguished service.
The man took online psychology courses at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and was transferring to Brown University
At least two people were injured in the incident, and nine others are in critical condition.
