Russia cannot avoid paying the bill for its war in Ukraine. This was stated by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kalas at the establishment of an International Commission for Claims for Ukraine in The Hague, reports "Reuters".
The commission to assess war damages in Ukraine to be paid by Russia sends a message to future aggressors that "if you start a war, you will be held accountable", Kalas said.
The commission will be in addition to the already existing Register of Damages for Ukraine and will operate within the framework of the Council of Europe.
