US intelligence reports contradict statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia does not pose a threat to Europe, Reuters reports, citing two sources.
They note that this assessment is shared by the security services of Britain and other European countries.
According to six sources, US intelligence has warned since the beginning of the fighting in Ukraine that Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to “annex all of Ukraine and reclaim parts of Europe that were previously part of the USSR“. The most recent US intelligence report was issued in September.
“The intelligence has always shown that Putin wants more“, said Michael Quigley, a Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.
He added that the Poles were “convinced of it“, while the Baltic states believed “they would be the first“.
Yesterday, the Russian president dismissed claims that Russia intended to attack Europe as nonsense. He said Western countries were continuing to escalate the situation, saying “we need to prepare for war“ to cover up their mistakes.
