Russian President Vladimir Putin's schedule for the last weeks of this year does not yet include a phone call with US leader Donald Trump, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to a question from TASS, BTA reported.

"There is no such call on the schedule yet, but if necessary, it can be organized quickly“, the Kremlin representative said.

Peskov also noted that the Kremlin will announce later whether Vladimir Putin will congratulate his American counterpart Donald Trump on the upcoming Christmas and New Year.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to hold talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron if there is a mutual political will, RIA Novosti reported, citing a statement by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, published today, reported earlier today Reuters.

“If there is mutual political will, this can only be viewed positively“, Peskov said.

Relations between Moscow and Paris remain tense amid the war in Ukraine and a number of bilateral cases, including the case of Laurent Vinatier, a French researcher and expert on Russia, detained in Russia in 2024 on charges related to violating Russian law on so-called foreign agents. French authorities define Vinatier as a scientist and analyst and insist on consular access and compliance with international norms, while Moscow claims that the case is not politically motivated and is being considered within the framework of current legislation.

Since the end of August this year, Vinatier has been the subject of new espionage charges, for which he could be sentenced to up to 20 years. At the end of last month, the espionage investigation was extended, and the trial could begin on February 28 next year.
