Security guarantees for Ukraine are in Putin's hands - 1

Security guarantees for Ukraine are in President Putin's hands, writes "Politico", BNR reported.

According to the publication, it is doubtful whether the United States would really offer guarantees that could force them to intervene directly in the conflict in Ukraine. Amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the war, the fighting has not abated.

US security guarantees are the only viable path to peace for Ukraine, no matter how much Europe wants to think otherwise, because Kiev's European allies cannot even deploy their multinational forces without logistical support from the US, writes "Politico".

The publication points out that given the failure of the Budapest Memorandum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky must consider several important points in the current negotiations.

It is indicated that Zelensky is ready to give up Ukraine's aspirations for NATO membership in exchange for reliable security guarantees.

In addition, since bilateral contacts between the US and Russia continue in parallel with the European and Ukrainian negotiations, the position of Russian President Putin will be important, regardless of whether anyone likes it or not, the publication emphasizes.

Against this background, they continue fighting. A Ukrainian drone attack in Russia's Krasnodar region damaged two ships and two piers.

The ships' crews were successfully evacuated. The damage caused a fire that spread over an area of 1,500 square meters.

Ukraine said yesterday that it was fighting a Russian invasion of Sumy region, after reports emerged that Moscow had forcibly relocated 50 people from a border village there. The Ukrainian military said fighting was currently underway in the village of Grabovskoe, with Kiev forces trying to push the occupiers back into Russian territory.
