Russian President Vladimir Putin will receive US special envoys on Ukraine Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner today. Putin himself announced this at a meeting of the Russian Security Council in video footage released by the Kremlin.
Contrary to US President Donald Trump's statements that Putin had agreed to participate in the "Peace Council", the Russian leader said that the Foreign Ministry in Moscow was still studying the US invitation.
Putin made it clear that he was ready to help finance the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and feed the population there:
"Even before we have decided on our participation in the composition and activities of the "Peace Council", taking into account Russia's special relations with the Palestinian people, we could, I think, provide the "Peace Council" with 1 billion US dollars of Russian assets that were frozen by the previous administration. "By the way, the remaining funds from our frozen assets in the US can be used to restore the territories damaged during the fighting, after the conclusion of a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine. This possibility is also being discussed with US representatives."
