Russian President Vladimir Putin said that some of the Russian assets frozen in the United States could be used to restore territories damaged during the conflict in Ukraine.

According to him, Moscow is discussing this with Washington.

„By the way, the remaining funds from our frozen assets in the United States could also be used to restore territories damaged during the fighting, after the conclusion of a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine. We are also discussing this possibility with representatives of the US administration“, Putin said at a meeting with members of the Security Council.

The Russian leader also said that Moscow is ready to transfer $1 billion of its frozen assets to the Peace Council, which the US has invited Russia to join. However, the president specified that a decision on joining has not yet been made.

The Russian leader thanked his American counterpart for the invitation to join the Gaza Peace Council. Moscow will respond after the Foreign Ministry reviews the documents and consults with strategic partners. The proposal is primarily aimed at settling the situation in the Middle East.

“We have always supported and continue to support any efforts aimed at strengthening international stability. Russia has developed special relations with the Palestinian people. Moscow is ready to send $1 billion of its foreign exchange reserves, frozen under the previous US administration, to the Peace Council. The remaining funds from our frozen assets in the US could also be used to restore territories damaged during the fighting, after the conclusion of a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine,“ Putin said.

The process of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict must take into account the basic needs and desires of the Palestinians, including the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
